Why So Many Girls Who Leave Manifesting Don't Know What to Write to God

Faith & Identity · Advertorial

You threw out the crystals and deleted the app. Here's why the blank page feels so strange now, and how girls are learning to journal with Scripture first.

Crystals and an old manifestation journal in a bedroom trash bin next to a blank journal

For a long time, you were really good at journaling.

369 scripts. Affirmations in your best handwriting. Gratitude lists "to the universe." A morning notification telling you what your day would be like, and a night routine for writing it into being.

Then Jesus got hold of your heart. For real this time.

So you did the brave thing. You threw out the crystals. You deleted the astrology app. The manifestation journal went in the trash, and honestly, it felt like breathing again.

Then you sat down with a new journal and a pen.

And nothing came.

If that's you, you're not doing faith wrong. You're standing in one of the most common, least talked-about places a girl can be: between the old way you understood yourself and the new one.

Why the blank page feels so strange now

Manifesting taught you that you were the author. Your words had power. Write it, speak it, believe it, and it becomes true.

Following Jesus flips that. You're not the author anymore. You're the one being written. Prayer isn't a script you perform. It's a conversation with a Person who already knows you.

That's a huge shift, and your hands haven't caught up yet. So your old habits feel wrong, and the new ones feel empty. Everything you write sounds like your old scripts with "Lord" stuck on the front.

That isn't failure. It's withdrawal from a system that put all the weight on you.

The two traps a lot of girls fall into next

Trap one: devotionals that sound like horoscopes. One verse, a "you've got this, queen," and a pretty quote. It feels nice for a minute, but it's the same self-focused message you just walked away from, now with a Bible verse attached.

Trap two: anything that feels mystical. Some popular devotionals are written as if Jesus is dictating new messages to the author. For a girl who just left channeling, tarot and "the universe is speaking," that can feel uncomfortably familiar. Plenty of Christian reviewers feel the same way.

What you actually need is simpler and much steadier: God's Word first, then your honest response to it.

Who you are now doesn't come from the stars

The app told you who you were every morning. It's okay to grieve that, because it was a kind of certainty. But here's what God has already said about you, and it doesn't change with the moon:

"But now, this is what the Lord says, he who created you... 'Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.'" Isaiah 43:1

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" 2 Corinthians 5:17

And if you're scared that the quiet, confused season you're in means you're "lukewarm," look at who Jesus was talking to in Revelation 3. It was a wealthy church that said it needed nothing (Revelation 3:17). A girl who just threw out everything she trusted to follow Him is not that church. The fact that you care this much is the Holy Spirit at work.

"There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." Romans 8:1

How to journal when the words aren't yours anymore

  1. Start with Scripture, not a feeling. Read a short passage first, so the first voice on the page is His, not your old one.
  2. Respond honestly. Not affirmations, just the truth. "This is hard to believe about myself because..."
  3. Write to a Person, not into the void. "Lord, I don't know what to say" is a real prayer. Some of the best ones start that way.
  4. Drop the streak. You're not manifesting anymore. Nothing breaks if you miss a day.
